Arches & Canyonlands

Colorful landscapes eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries abound in these two national parks. Experience the magnificent trails and scenic canyons, discover their visitor centers and assist research staff in the field as you explore these parks from new perspectives.

Price: $2,925/including airfare
 $2,825/including airfare for Science Center & AAA Members

Deposit: $500/person at time of registration.

Fees Include: Airfare, lodging, ground transportation,  three meals daily, fees and supplies. Non-flight options are available

Registration Deadline: July 30, 2012. University  Credit is available.
Tentative Itinerary

Day 1: Depart St Louis, arrive in Grand Junction, Colorado. Drive to lodge for dinner.
Day 2: Driving and hiking tour of Arches National Park. Lunch in the park. Evening presentation on Geology of Arches & Canyonlands National Parks.
Day 3: Explore the trails and scenery of Canyonlands National Park. Lunch in the park. On the return trip to the lodge we will stop by Deadhorse Point State Park.
Day 4: Meet the science staff from the Canyonlands Research Center and learn about the research projects in the park.
Day 5: Spend the day collecting data with staff from the Canyonlands Research Center.
Day 6: Hike trail around the lodge in the morning with our geologist. Lunch either on the trail or at the lodge. Enjoy a hummer sunset tour of the canyons.
Day 7: Return to St. Louis.
