Missouri Mines

Join us as we visit the Missouri Mines State Historic Site for an overview of mining, then on to Bonne Terre Mine. Bonne Terre Mine is one of Missouri's very own treasures. Take a cruise on the 1 billion gallon lake beneath the surface of the earth while exploring the history, people and equipment of the mine. This tour combines history and science in one extraordinary day. Fees include travel. Please bring sack lunch and drink. Dress for the weather. There is a steep climb down and up stairs at Bonne Terre Mine, wear shoes with good traction. No hard-soled shoes please.

Times: 9 am-4 pm. Bus leaves promptly at 9 am.

8:30AM: Meet Science Center staff and bus in James S. McDonnell Planetarium
9:00AM: Bus leaves for Missouri Mines State Historic Site
10:00AM: Arrive at Missouri Mines State Historic Site. History of mining in Missouri and explore the site and museum exhibits
12:00 Noon: Lunch at Missouri Mines State Historic Site
12:30PM: Leave for Bonne Terre Mine
1:00PM: Arrive at Bonne Terre Mine, take boat tour of mine
2:00PM: Return to James S. McDonnell Planetarium
3:00PM: Arrive at James S. McDonnell Planetarium
